BATON ROUGE — LSU linebacker Trev Faulk has been named one of 12 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, the The Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando announced on Thursday.
The Butkus Award is awarded annually to the nation’s best linebacker in college football. The three finalist for the Butkus Award will be announced on Nov. 15 with the winner being announced at the Butkus Award Presentation Ceremony in Orlando on Dec. 7.
Faulk is one of three Southeastern Conference linebackers to make the semifinals list. The others are Andra Davis of Florida and Kalimba Edwards of South Carolina.
Faulk, who was listed as the nation’s top rated inside linebacker by the Sporting News during the summer, has registered 50 tackles in five games for the Tigers. Faulk has 33 solo tackles and a pair of tackles for losses.
Faulk, a junior from Lafayette, La., recorded a season-best of 18 tackles in LSU’s loss to Tennessee. He’s also added two passes deflected, a pair of quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.
