BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team moved up to fourth in the AVCA South Region, it was announced Tuesday.
The ranking is the highest for LSU (6-5, 3-1 SEC) since Fran Flory became the head coach in 1998. The Tigers advanced two spots from the number six position.
The SEC dominated the top ten by placing six teams, including the top five. Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas led the way while Alabama was behind LSU. Kentucky, one of the teams the Tigers skipped over, fell from fifth to eighth.
The Tigers also leapfrogged Western Kentucky, which fell one spot to sixth.
LSU returns to action on Friday when it faces Ole Miss in a Southeastern Conference Western Division clash.
