BATON ROUGE — The LSU coaching staff has named Michael Clayton, LaBrandon Toefield, Damien James and Walter Moreham as the players of the week following the Tigers’ 29-25 win over Kentucky on Saturday night in Lexington.

Clayton and Toefield shared the award on offense, while James picked up the honor on defense and Moreham on special teams.

Clayton, a true freshman wide receiver from Baton Rouge, posted career-highs of nine receptions and 105 yards receiving to go with a pair of touchdowns. Clayton’s second TD was the game-winner for the Tigers as it came with 13 seconds left in the contest.

Toefield rushed for 129 yards and one TD on a career-high 28 carries. The 129 yards rushing for Toefield marked the most for the sophomore against as Southeastern Conference foe. Toefield, who leads the SEC in scoring with 10.8 points a contest, has now scored nine touchdowns in five games.

James intercepted a pair of passes, running his SEC leading total to four for the season. James also added five solo tackles as well as a pair of PBU’s.

Moreham led the Tigers with three tackles on special teams, including one inside the 15 yard line on a kickoff.
