HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The LSU soccer team is prepared to face the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs on Sunday, as the two non-conference opponents clash at noon in Huntsville, Ala., at the Louis Crews Memorial Stadium.
“Playing on the road is always tough,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “The good teams always find a way to win on the road and that is what we need to do in order to be successful this season. This game will also give some of our younger players a bit of experience with long road trips.”
LSU heads into its second-straight road contest with an overall record of 4-2-1 on the season. The Tigers are in the midst of a three-game undefeated streak after defeating both Louisiana-Lafayette and Auburn-Montgomery at home before tying Louisiana-Monroe, 2-2.
Wednesday’s standstill on the road versus ULM marked the Tigers’ first tied contest in nearly two seasons. LSU’s previous tie was recorded against Oklahoma on Oct. 3, 1999.
Alabama A&M, in its women’s soccer program’s second season, is playing its third-straight Southeastern Conference opponent on Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs fell to both Ole Miss and Alabama on the road last week. LSU will be the first member of the SEC to play Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Ala.
In the only contest between the two teams, the Tigers destroyed Alabama A&M last season by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs, 10-1. The 10 goals scored equaled LSU’s all-time record which was set in 1996 against Southeastern Louisiana. The Tigers defeated Southeastern, 10-0.
The LSU soccer team will look to repeat last season’s performance against the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs on Sunday, as the teams collide at noon in Huntsville, Ala., at the Louis Crews Memorial Stadium.
