Tigers Continue to Prepare for Tennessee

BATON ROUGE — LSU continued its preparations for Saturday’s contest against seventh-ranked Tennessee with a two hour workout at the LSU Practice Facility here Wednesday.

The Tigers, ranked No. 14 in the nation in both major polls, will practice again on Thursday followed by a walk-thru in Tiger Stadium on Friday afternoon. LSU departs for Knoxville at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

LSU spent Wednesday’s practice working on individual drills as well as working on certain phases on the game plan. LSU wrapped up Wednesday’s practice with special teams drills.

“We have had a couple really good days of practice,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “I thought the focus and intensity out there is what we wanted it to be for a practice in shells (shorts, shoulder pads and helmets), which is really a Thursday practice for us. I thought we had a good, high-tempo practice yesterday as well. I think the players are ready to play a game.”

LSU enters the contest with a 2-0 overall mark, while the Vols are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference play. Saturday’s contest will mark the SEC opener for the Tigers and it will be the first game for both teams since Sept. 8. The game will be televised to a national audience on ESPN with kickoff set for 6:50 p.m. CT.
