BATON ROUGE — Looking to avoid a two-week hiatus from competition, the LSU volleyball team has added a match with UL Lafayette that will played on Tuesday.
The two teams will square off at 7 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday. It will be the final action for the Tigers before they open Southeastern Conference play against Tennessee on Sept. 21.
“We needed to play again before we head to Tennessee and get into the SEC schedule,” said LSU coach Fran Flory. “It will be advantageous for us to get a match under our belts and not go into Knoxville after a two-week break.”
LSU was slated to host Rice, George Mason and Florida A&M in the Tiger Classic this weekend. However, the tournament was cancelled in the aftermath of the terrorist acts in New York and Washington, D.C.
This will mark the first time the two teams have met since 1999, the Tigers beat the Ragin’ Cajuns in three games.
