Olympic Sports’ Schedule Changes Announced

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletic Department announced late Thursday the postponements and schedule changes involving Olympic Sports teams at the University.

The Tiger Volleyball Classic, which involved George Mason, Rice and Florida A&M, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Maravich Assembly Center, will not be played because of travel plans for the visiting teams and the national day of mourning set for Friday.

The event was to serve as the home opener for the Tiger Volleyball squad after two weekends on the road. LSU will next play at Tennessee on Sept. 21 to open SEC play and at Kentucky on Sept. 23. The next scheduled home event for LSU is Sept. 28 versus Auburn.

The LSU soccer team will not make its trip to Towson State for the tournament scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Loyola of Maryland has also withdrawn from the event. The LSU team is set to play its next match Wednesday at Mobile against South Alabama.

LSU’s men’s tennis team was scheduled to take part in an invitational tournament at Rice beginning Friday, but that event has been cancelled.

The LSU women’s golf team is expected to open its season as scheduled Monday in Nashville at the Mason Rudolph Championships hosted by Vanderbilt.
