BATON ROUGE — LSU continued its preparations for Saturday’s season-opener against Tulane with a two-hour practice in shorts and shoulder pads in the rain here Wednesday at the LSU practice facility.

The Tigers will put their final touches on the game plan on Thursday, followed by a walk-through in Tiger Stadium on Friday.

“I think the players are a little more in tune to what they need to do in order to have a chance to be successful and win this game,” LSU coach Nick Saban said after practice on Wednesday. “I think its going to be a real challenge for us., especially against Tulane’s offense relative to our defense and the adjustments that we are going to have to make in this game.

“I think we’ve come a long way in preparation and have had good practices. I’ve been pleased with the way we practiced this week. Now we’ll see if we’re ready to play a game.”

Saban said that tight end Robert Royal (ankle) is okay and will play in the contest. Royal practiced in a red jersey (no contact) on Wednesday.
