Peters Named Promotional Manager

BATON ROUGE — Jenni Peters, a veteran of 20 years in the marketing industry and a prominent figure in the Baton Rouge community, has been named promotions manager for Olympic sports at LSU, associate athletic director Judy Southard announced on Tuesday.

“It was very important to bring to the table someone to focus their attention specifically on Olympic sports,” said Southard. “Jenni Peters is well-known, well-received individual within the Baton Rouge business community who will be able to accept the challenge and bring greater exposure to some of our Olympic sports.”

Peters has been on the faculty of the LSU marketing department since 1984, moving to the athletics side of the University after 17 successful years in academics. In addition, Peters has been an adjunct professor at Southeastern Louisiana for the past three years.

During her time with LSU and SLU, Peters has influenced the shape of the marketing industry in Louisiana, helping place numerous prominent students at high profile jobs and internships within the state.

Well-respected throughout the Baton Rouge community, Peters has helped spearhead and plan such events at “Stampede the Stadium,” a 5-kilometer race she co-founded with Terry DiNardo, wife of former LSU football coach Gerry DiNardo, and Jane Henslee in 1998. The event has raised $52,000 for the LSU Libraries and Academic Center for Athletes.

From 1985-89, Peters wrote a weekly column for the Baton Rouge State Times entitled “On The Run With Jenni Peters.”

A former standout distance runner, Peters represented the United States at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, while also going to the U.S. Olympic Trials in both 1988 and 1992.
