BATON ROUGE — LSUsports.tv, the latest innovation created by EATEL for the LSU Athletic Department, begins its first full streaming season when Nick Saban’s football Tigers renew their oldest rivalry with Tulane on Sept. 1. Watch a special 2000 LSU football season highlight video and a preview of what’s to come in 2001 on LSUsports.tv introduced by Jordy Hultberg, the host of the Inside LSU Football with Nick Saban. Here’s how it works
For games such as the LSU-Tulane football season opener, the game will be encoded as it happens. (Due to Southeastern Conference rules and contacts, LSU cannot stream these events live.) Once the game has completed — and after a waiting period determined by the Athletic Department — the games are archived. Once these are archived, they are added to the vast LSUsports.tv database and made available to members of the site.
Once available (usually 24 hours after home games, and 48 after road contests), visitors to the LSUsports.net and LSUsports.tv web sites will see the latest game under the title “Now Featuring.” To view these streaming files, fans will need Real Player 8 Basic, which can be downloaded at www.real.com.
If the game isn’t listed under “Now Featuring,” use the LSUsports.tv “Remote Control.” With the remote control, you can search the LSUsports.tv database for games, coaches shows, press conferences and much more.
But, that’s not all!
Don’t forget about games in the past that have been archived on LSUsports.tv. Remember Chris Jackson and Gerald Glass’ exhibition in Oxford, Miss., in 1990 when Jackson lit up the Rebels for 55 points? How about the 1983 football game between LSU and Washington when 82,390 squeezed into Tiger Stadium to see the Tigers blast the nationally ranked Huskies? It’s all on LSUsports.tv now, with much, much more to come as the year goes on.
Free Audio Broadcasts
For those who love to listen live to the “Voice of the Tigers” Jim Hawthorne, the streaming audio of ALL LSU athletics events is still FREE to the public. Live streaming audio of LSU football, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball and SEC softball games is featured on LSUsports.net under “Today’s Features” on the day of the game.
