BATON ROUGE — LSU alumni chapters from Miami to Los Angeles will be honorary ticket holders to the football season opener in Tigers Stadium, as they watch the Tigers and the Tulane Green Wave play on TigerVision from thousands of miles away.

In most circumstances, TigerVision may not be offered outside of Louisiana. However, according the Kevin Wagner, the Coordinator of Electronic Media at LSU, at least 35 out-of-state alumni chapters have been granted access to the game live.

“Southeastern Conference rules prohibit the sale of pay-per-view broadcasts outside of the home team’s state,” Wagner said. “but what we are allowed to due under SEC rules is create ‘viewing parties’ outside the state of Louisiana through official LSU alumni groups only.”

As of Tuesday, Aug. 28, the 35 official out-of-state alumni chapters which will offer these “viewing parties” are as follows:

Official out-of-state alumni chapters which are given access to the game are required to pay the LSU Athletic Department $5 per person, with a minimum payment of $65 and a maximum of $250. Regular price for the TigerVision broadcast in Louisiana is $34.50. Directors of official alumni chapters who are interested in hosting a viewing party for the chapter should call (225) 578-8226.

Contact information for these chapters is available on www.lsualumni.org. According to the web site, there are more than 100 alumni chapters throughout the United States and in foreign countries.

LSU takes on Tulane at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1 in Tiger Stadium. This game will mark the first time since 1992 that TigerVision has carried a home football game.
