BATON ROUGE — Two LSU student-athletes with important playing time remaining for their respective teams will receive diplomas Thursday in the summer commencement ceremonies which begin in the Maravich Assembly Center at 9 a.m.

Both men’s basketball player Collis Temple III and football tight end Robert Royal have completed their degree requirements, but will continue on with graduate work while they complete their athletic eligibility.

Temple, who graduated in three years, still has two years remaining of eligibility for the men’s basketball team, while Royal, a preseason All-American selection at tight end, will begin his final season of college play on Sept. 1 in Tiger Stadium.

Temple is receiving his degree in business, while Royal’s degree is in kinesiology.

Also graduating, in Marketing, is 19-time track and field All-America Peta-Gaye Dowdie. The world-class sprinter was part of three women’s national championships track teams under Pat Henry during her 1997-2000 career. Receiving her degree in Kinesiology is women’s basketball player April Brown, part of three straight NCAA Tournament teams for the Lady Tigers (1999-2001).
