Softball Assistant Accepts High School Head Coaching Position

BATON ROUGE — LSU assistant softball coach Lori Osterberg resigned from her position at LSU to return to Eldridge, Iowa, and North Scott High School where she taught special education and coached softball, basketball and volleyball.

Osterberg and the softball staff were named the Speedline Division I National Coaching Staff of the year after taking the Tigers to their first Women’s College World Series and capturing the team’s third Southeastern Conference Championship.

At LSU, Osterberg worked primarily with the Tiger infielders and hitters and served as the recruiting coordinator.

Osterberg played collegiate softball for LSU head coach Yvette Girouard at Louisiana-Lafayette. She was the Ragin’ Cajuns’ starting shortstop from 1994-97 and was a member of two teams that advanced to the Women’s College World Series. While playing at Louisiana-Lafayette, she earned All-South Region honors and was a three-time All-Louisiana selection.

Following her playing career, Osterberg served as a student assistant under Girouard at Louisiana-Lafayette in 1999 and graduated with a degree in secondary level special education.
