BATON ROUGE — LSU football season ticket sales have reached a school-record 61,500 after more than 98 percent of last season’s season ticket holders renewed for the 2001 season.
After 58,250 ticket books were renewed, an additional 3,250 were sold to new season ticket holders since going on sale on June 23. On the first day of new season ticket sales, more than 1,500 sets were sold.
Season ticket sales will continue at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office or by phone (1-800-960-8587) through mid-August.
If the 65,500 season tickets sell out, there will be no tickets available for single-game purchase unless the visiting team returns part of its allotment. If the season ticket sales do not reach that maximum or if the visiting team returns tickets to LSU, the remaining single-game tickets will go on sale sometime in mid-August. However, orders for single-game tickets placed by season ticket holders will be given priority if any remain.
There will be an additional 15,850 season tickets sold to full-time LSU students. To be eligible to purchase student season tickets, LSU full-time students must call REGGIE and select football season tickets as an additional option.
If the total number of students who select season tickets in the registration process exceeds 15,850, a “lottery” will be conducted to determine who receives tickets. If a “lottery” is conducted by the Dean of Students office, students will be selected by priority according to class starting with graduating seniors and continuing down to incoming freshmen.
Should a lottery be held, the names of the students eligible to purchase season tickets will be posted on www.lsu.edu, www.LSUsports.net and at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office on Aug. 21.
Prices for student season tickets are $70 for reserved seating and $42 for general admission.
LSU will play seven home games in the 2001 season, including: Sept. 1 versus Tulane; Sept. 8 versus Utah State; Sept. 15 versus Auburn; Oct. 6 versus Florida; Oct. 27 versus Ole Miss; Nov. 10 versus Middle Tennessee (Homecoming); and Nov. 23 (Friday) versus Arkansas.
Two of LSU’s road contests have been sold out for several weeks: Sept. 29 at Tennessee and Nov. 3 at Tuscaloosa. Visiting team tickets are available for the two remaining road games, Oct. 13 at Kentucky and Oct. 20 at Mississippi State.
All permitted parking for football is sold out.
