BATON ROUGE — After missing most of the 2000 season with an injury, former LSU women’s basketball star Elaine Powell was left off the 2001 WNBA All-Star ballot leading the Orlando Miracle in most offensive categories this season. Send in your write-in vote below!

In order to Powell to make the 2001 All-Star game set for July 16 at 7 p.m. CDT in Orlando, Fla., fans must submit write-in votes from the WNBA ballot page. Simply scroll to the bottom of the “Send your write-in vote for Powell” link and fill in “Powell, E.” for the “guard” position. Once your write-in votes is submitted through the Internet, you will receive confirmation of your write-in vote at the bottom of the next page.

Powell, a two-year letterwinner and All-Southeastern Conference player at LSU in 1996 and 1997, leads the Miracle in assists (3.5 apg), three-pointers (12) and three-point percentage (46 percent), while ranking third in scoring (13.1 ppg) and second in minutes played (31.3 mgp) during the 2001 season. However, she was left off the 15-player Eastern Conference guards ballot.

Her scoring average is good enough for 19th in the WNBA, while she ranked sixth in the league in field goal percentage, 10th in three pointers and 11th in assists per game and third-point percentage.

Powell and 2001 Lady Tiger All-American Marie Ferdinand represent the LSU women’s basketball program in the 2001 WNBA season.

Ferdinand was the No. 1 draft pick of the Utah Starzz in 2001 and averages 8.5 points and 14.8 minutes per game. As of June 20, she ranked seventh in the WNBA with a 51.3 field goal percentage.
