Moore, Signee McDonald Sign With Respective Teams

BATON ROUGE — LSU first baseman and 22nd-round draft pick Bryan Moore signed to play in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, while 2001 signee Chamar McDonald signed with the Kansas City Royals, according to the LSU baseball office.

Moore led the Tigers in hitting in the 2001 season after transferring to LSU from Indian River Community College, as the 6-2, 200-pound junior batted .373 (90-for-241) with a team-leading 25 doubles to go along with seven home runs.

He walked 46 times in 65 games and scored 59 runs while driving in 50. Moore led all starters with a .989 fielding percentage.

McDonald, a fifth-round pick of the Royals, is a 6-4, 195-pound outfielder from Madison High School in Madison, Miss. He was one of eight 2001 signees who was drafted in the First-Year Player Draft held in the first week of June. Five other junior college signees also signed with major league teams before the draft by way of draft and follow.
