HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — LSU senior punter Ryan Miles was asked to “Come on Down” on the longtime CBS game show “The Price Is Right” which was aired in Baton Rouge on Friday.
Donning his No. 19 Peach Bowl jersey, Miles, a native of St. Amant, La., won a Yamaha home theater with a bid of $1 after being selected as on of four contestants.
Once on the stage with Bob Barker, Miles played “Check Out,” a game in which the contestant must provide prices for five products to within $1 of the actual suggested retail price. He was playing to win a Ashley Co. bedroom group worth $6,994.
Ironically, Miles lost the game by 5 cents after pricing a $1.59 box of Zatarain’s New Orleans Style Dirty Rice Mix at $3.
Miles, who transferred to LSU from Millsaps College before the 2000 season, will challenge for the starting punting job for the 2001 season which begins on Sept. 1 against Tulane.
