BATON ROUGE — Two LSU women’s golfers were named to the All-American teams announced by the National Golf Coaches Association following the conclusion of the Division I national championships.
Senior Katy Harris of South Bend, Ind., became just the third member of the LSU women’s golf team to make first-team All-American and junior Meredith Duncan was named to the first team.
Harris joins Jenny Lidback (1986) and Kristi Coats (1991) as first-team All-Americans. Harris earned her first team honor after a stellar season capped off by an impressive third place finish in the Division I Championships with a 72-hole total of 1-under par. Harris set the single season scoring record of 73.24 strokes per round, finishing second three times with nine top 10s in 11 tournaments.
Harris was a second team All-American as a freshman in 1998. She finished her LSU career with 20 top 10 finishes and the best career stroke average in program history of 75.49.
Duncan made All-American for the second straight year, after earning honorable mention during her sophomore season in 2000. The Shreveport junior averaged 74.42 strokes per round with two fourth-place finishes and six top 10 finishes. Like Harris, Duncan was a first-team All-SEC selection.
