Three Tigers Named to All-South Region Teams

BATON ROUGE — Three LSU Tigers were named to the All-South Region team announced Wednesday afternoon. Junior Britni Sneed was named First-Team All-South Region pitcher and her teammates Stephanie Hastings and Trena Peel join her on the second team.

“These are all obvious choices for post-season honors,” said head coach Yvette Giroaurd. “All three had fantastic seasons and are some of the main reasons that we have been so successful. I am sure they would tell you that they have their teammates to thank.”

Sneed receives this honor after being named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and the SEC Tournament MVP. She holds a record of 32-5, which is a school record for wins. Her ERA of 0.63 is the lowest in LSU history, and she has a record 347 strikeouts. The Tiger was flawless in conference play, going 18-0 with a 0.23 ERA.

Hastings made the move from second base to shortstop this season for the sake
of her team. She has been solid at the position the entire season. She leads the Tigers with a batting average of .381 and has six home runs.

Hastings leads the team with 15 doubles and 46 RBI.

Peel went on a 12-game hitting streak to end the regular season and raise her batting average 55 points. She is currently second on the team hitting .331, and she hit .398 in league play. She is second on the team with nine home runs, 41 RBI and 21 stolen bases. Peel is third all-time with 16 home runs for her career.
