BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s golf team will go to this week’s NCAA East Regional as the nation’s 10th-ranked golf team according to the latest GolfWorld Magazine coaches poll.
The Tigers moved up one spot from 11th in the poll for the May 4 issue of Golf World. The Tigers switched places with Pepperdine, which dropped from 11th.
Duke claimed all 16 first-place votes. Georgia moved up from sixth to fifth on the basis of its SEC Championship two weeks ago.
The Lady Tigers take part in their seventh consecutive NCAA regional golf tournament beginning Thursday at Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex on the Purdue University campus in the 2001NCAA Central Women’s Regional.
The top eight schools from each of three regionals will advance to the NCAA Division I Championships set for May 22-25 at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
The 54-hole regional tournament runs through Friday.
