Soccer Signs U-High Standout For 2001 Season

BATON ROUGE — On Wednesday, the LSU soccer team announced the addition of University High School standout Artie Brown to its roster for the 2001 season.

“We are excited to add Artie to this Tiger team,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “She is a great player and will be a big help to us. We are also glad to get Louisiana kids whenever possible. This state has a lot of talent, and it is good to see the talent stay here.”

Brown will provide the Tigers with depth at forward and sweeper.

A Baton Rouge native, Brown was a First-Team All-State and All-District selection in 1999 and 2000. Brown helped lead her high school team to the Louisiana State Championship in 1998 and the State Runner-up in 1999. She was named the best offensive player from 1997-99.

Brown played forward and sweeper for Brian Landry and the New Orleans Soccer Academy. She was also a member of the Red Star club soccer team that won the State Championship from 1996 through 1999. Brown was a member of the Olympic Development from 1996-97.
