BATON ROUGE — LSU continued its spring drills with a two-hour workout in full pads on Wednesday at the LSU practice facility. Wednesday’s practice marked the sixth for the Tigers during the spring session.
LSU will practice in shells on Friday followed by its first scrimmage of the spring session at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
“Practice has been going pretty well,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “We’ve put a lot of new things in and one of the goals of spring practice is that we get more players to learn the system and the scheme.
“We had made a lot of progress on the offensive line. I think we have got to make a lot more progress there and get some of the other guys to come along. Defensively, we’ve got most of the same players back so we are a lot further along in terms of knowledge and we are making fewer mental mistakes.
“Overall, I’m pleased with the progress that we are making, but we still have a long way to go. I am always concerned with the standards that guys set and not being satisfied with where they are right now. I want to make sure that we do everything we can to get better as a team.”
Saturday’s scrimmage will be the first of three for the Tigers this spring.
LSU will also scrimmage on Saturday, April 21 followed by the spring game on Saturday, April 28.
Kickoff for the spring game is set for 1:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. Tickets for the contest are currently on sale in the LSU Athletic Ticket Office for $5. Tickets purchased the day of the game will be $10. All proceeds go to benefit the new Academic Center for Athletes.
