Coke Announces 2000 Championship Commemorative Bottles

BATON ROUGE — The 2000 LSU baseball and women’s outdoor track and field championships were honored with commemorative 8 oz. Coco-Cola bottles issued by Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, it was announced on Monday at the LSU Athletic Administration Building by Coca-Cola Bottling Company United President and Chief Operating Officer Gary Sligar.

More than 300,000 bottles — 225,000 baseball and 75,000 track and field — will be produced at the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola bottling facility and distributed in special six-packs in supermarkets and convenience stores in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles, La., as well as Gulfport, Hattiesburg and McComb, Miss.

The bottles will be available in stores beginning Monday, April 16, 2001.

The custom-designed bottle carrier for the baseball championship will also honor retiring head coach Skip Bertman with a his photo, special congratulatory graphics and a “Coca-Cola Salutes Real Champions” tagline.
