BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team for 2000-2001 gathered one more time as a group Wednesday night at the Lod Cook Alumni Center for the team’s annual post-season awards banquet, sponsored by the LSU Sixth Man Club.

The event honored the team’s three seniors – Brian Beshara, Lamont Roland and Jack Warner – and Coach John Brady and the LSU Coaching Staff presented several special awards during the course of the evening which also included a video segment on the past season and a tribute to the three seniors.

Named Most Improved for the 2001 season was sophomore Collis Temple III who moved into a strong starting position for the LSU team at the off-guard this season. Brian Green took the team Scholastic Award, while Ronald Dupree was named the Best Offensive Player and Lamont Roland the Best Defensive Player.

Guard Torris Bright was recognized for leading the team in assists for the second straight year, while Ronald Dupree was named the team’s best rebounder. Dupree was also honored for his second-team All-SEC selection and his first-team All-Louisiana choice.

Williams stepped in at the third guard position after Roland went down with a knee injury near the end of the half of the first SEC game in January.
