AUGUSTA, Ga. — The 17th ranked LSU men’s golf posted a final round score of 293 to finish fourth at the Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Tigers total for the two-day event was 864. They were tied for fourth after 36 holes on Saturday, shooting scores of 287-284 Saturday to finish the day trailing three teams.

The host school Augusta State edged North Carolina State in a playoff to win their second straight ASU Invitational. The Panthers and Wolfpack both shot an 856 total for the tournament. ASU shot a final-round 291, and N.C. State shot a 293 in the final round.

Tiger senior Alan Morgan continued his sensational season by shooting a final-round 70 to finish in a tie for third place with Furman’s Kirk Satterfield. Morgan’s total for the tournament was 208. He fired a 68 and a 70 Saturday to finish the day in a tie for fifth.

Morgan has now placed in the top 10 five times this season, best on the team. The individual title was also determined by a playoff Sunday as Oliver Wilson of ASU edged Bill Haas of Wake Forest. Morgan finished just one stroke behind them.

The College of Charleston finished fifth at Augusta thanks to Jedd McLuen’s fifth place finish in the individual standings. The Tigers have now finished in the top ten eight times this season, and have won three team titles as well.

Nathan Goulding finished tied for 16th place, Craig Taylor was tied for 30th, John Humphries was 34th, and Billy Dressler finished 69th.

The Tigers will next travel to Auburn, Ala to participate in the 2001 Billy Hitchcock Invitational April 6-8. The tournament will be the Tigers last in the regular season before participating in the SEC Championships beginning April 19 in Sea Island, Ga.
