BATON ROUGE — LSU senior outfielder Ray Wright has been suspended for the Tigers’ three-game SEC series at Mississippi State due to a violation of team policy, head coach Skip Bertman announced Thursday.
Bertman said Wright would not travel with the team to Starkville, Miss., however, he will be re-instated for LSU’s trip to north Louisiana next week when the Tigers face Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe.
“Ray violated a team policy, so he won’t be us this weekend,” Bertman said. “He will be back and he will be eligible to play when we go to Natchitoches on Tuesday.”
Wright, who has started 18 of LSU’s 24 games this season, is hitting .312 (20-for-64) with four doubles, two homers, nine RBI, 12 runs and a team-high six steals in seven attempts.
