BATON ROUGE — The LSU baseball team seeks to end its three-game non-winning streak when the Tigers travel to Athens, Ga., this weekend for a three-game SEC series against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Game 1 of the series is set for 5:30 p.m. CST Friday, Game 2 will start at 1 p.m. CST Saturday and Game 3 is scheduled for Noon CST Sunday.

All three games can be heard on the LSU Sports Network (98.1 FM in Baton Rouge ) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.

Game 1 of the series will be televised live Friday by College Sports Southeast (Cable Channel 18 in Baton Rouge), and Game 3 will be televised live Sunday by the Guaranty Sports Network (Cable Channel 6 in Baton Rouge). There will be no TV coverage for Saturday’s Game 2.

Second-ranked LSU (12-4-1) dropped a 13-3 decision to No. 16 Tulane, extending its non-winning streak to three games. In their last three contests, the Tigers have tied Arizona State (5-5), lost to Southern (11-6) and lost to Tulane. Georgia (9-2), ranked 20th by Baseball America magazine, enters Friday’s game riding a six-game win streak. The Bulldogs haven’t lost since Feb. 24, when they were defeated by Birmingham Southern, 12-5. Junior left-hander Shane Youman (3-0, 1.48 ERA) will start Game 1 for LSU, and freshman left-hander Lane Mestepey (2-0, 5.75 ERA) will start Game 2.

Head coach Skip Bertman said he has not yet decided on a Sunday starter.

Georgia will counter with junior right-hander Rob Moravek (1-0, 2.19 ERA) on Friday, junior right-hander Scott Murphy (2-0, 3.94 ERA) on Saturday and sophomore right-hander Brandon Moorhead (1-0, 1.42 ERA) on Sunday.

The Bulldogs are coached by long-time Bertman rival Ron Polk, who is in his second year at Georgia after serving as the head coach at Mississippi State for 22 seasons.

LSU leads the all-time series with Georgia, 39-11-1, and the teams split four meetings last season. The Bulldogs took two of three games from the Tigers during the regular season, and LSU posted an 11-3 victory over Georgia in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
