Lady Tigers 14th in AP, USA Today Polls

BATON ROUGE — After going winless in the past week, the LSU Lady Tigers dropped just one spot in the Associated Press poll and two spots in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll as they were No. 14 in both.

Tennessee moved up to No. 1 in the nation in both polls after surviving a classic Southeastern Conference battle with LSU on Sunday, 75-73. The Lady Vols filled the spot vacated by Notre Dame, who lost to Rutgers. The Irish fell to second in both polls.

The top five were identical in the two polls as Connecticut held onto the No. 3 position while Georgia and Purdue moved up to fourth and fifth, respectively.

Duke and Louisiana Tech were flip-flopped in the two polls at the sixth and seventh positions and Oklahoma moved up to No. 8 in both polls.

Rutgers and Iowa State rounded out the top 10 in the media poll. The Cyclones were ninth in the coaches poll, just ahead of No. 10 Florida.

The Lady Gators, who are 11th according to the AP, are one of five SEC teams in poll along with Tennessee, Georgia, LSU and Vanderbilt.

The Commodores, who knocked off LSU on Thursday night in Nashville, 86-75, moved up to No. 17 in the coaches poll and No. 18 in the AP poll.

LSU next faces No. 10/11 Florida in Gainesville on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
