BATON ROUGE — Sal Sunseri, who served as LSU’s linebackers and special teams coach last season, has resigned his position on the LSU staff to pursue an opportunity at another university, head coach Nick Saban announced on Monday.
Sunseri’s next position will be made public on Tuesday.
“I’m very disappointed that some of the people that I brought in here a year ago didn’t make the commitment to LSU and to the state of Louisiana that I had hoped they would,” Saban said. “Continuity on a coaching staff is very important and when I hired these coaches a year ago it was based on the understanding that they were making a long-term commitment to this program.
“I’m going to use this opportunity to upgrade our staff with someone who is dedicated to building a program at LSU that everybody will be proud of.”
