BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team, coming off its most heart-wrenching defeats of the year on Tuesday, must now regroup and make the trip to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday at noon at Bud Walton Arena.
The game is scheduled to be televised throughout the Southeast on Jefferson Pilot Sports (WAFB-TV, Channel 9 in Baton Rouge).
The radio broadcast will be carried on the stations of the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.
LSU is 11-11 overall and 1-10 in the SEC West, while the Razorbacks, coming off two straight losses on the road at Florida and Auburn, are 14-9 overall and 5-6 in the SEC West. The Razorbacks are trying to get something going in the final few weeks to get themselves in position for NCAA play.
The Tigers are coming off an 81-74 loss in overtime in a nationally televised battle with Florida on Tuesday. The Tigers had the lead for most of the regulation period before Florida tied the game twice in the final 15 seconds at the free throw line to force overtime.
“Our team played well Tuesday,” said Brady. “It’s going to be tough on the road at Arkansas. It’s one of the toughest places to play in the league. It will be another difficult challenge for us. There’s no choice here but to get ready (after Tuesday). There’s no gray area. The decision has been made to play as hard as you can. That’s the obligation the players have when they put the uniform on. I don’t even think about it. Hopefully the best you can do is enough to win the game, but if not at least you have the satisfaction of trying to do your best.”
LSU will go with its standard lineup of guards Torris Bright, Collis Temple and Jermaine Williams at the guards, with Brian Beshara and Ronald Dupree at forwards. Dupree, at 17.8 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game, remains the No. 2 scorer and rebounder in the Southeastern Conference.
The Tigers will remain on the road after this game for a Wednesday game versus Kentucky at Rupp Arena in Lexington. LSU’s next home basketball game is Saturday, Feb. 24, against Mississippi State.
