BATON ROUGE — The LSU baseball team seeks to rebound from Wednesday’s loss to Louisiana-Monroe as the third-ranked Tigers play host to Houston this weekend in a three-game series in Alex Box Stadium.

Game 1 of the series is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Game 2 will start at 2 p.m. Saturday and Game 3 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

All three games can be heard on the LSU Sports Network (98.1 FM in Baton Rouge ) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.

The first two games of the series will also be televised live by College Sports Southeast (Cable Channel 18 in Baton Rouge).

LSU (2-2) dropped a 7-6, 11-inning decision to ULM Wednesday, marking the Tigers’ fourth straight extra-inning loss, dating back to last season. LSU was 0-3 in extra-inning games in 2000.

Houston, the defending Conference USA champion and a 2000 NCAA Super Regional host, enters Friday’s game with a 3-4 mark, including a 5-2 loss to top-ranked Rice on Tuesday.

Senior right-hander Jason Scobie (0-1, 13.50 ERA) will start Game 1 for LSU. Scobie was charged with the loss in last Saturday’s season-opener versus Kansas State, as he allowed five runs on five hits in 3.1 innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

Houston will counter with sophomore right-hander Bryan Harris, who is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA. Harris has recorded seven strikeouts and four walks in 10 innings of work this season. LSU will start junior left-hander Shane Youman (1-0, 0.00 ERA) in Game 2 and freshman southpaw Lane Mestepey (1-0, 6.00 ERA) in Game 3.

Freshman right-hander Gene Flores (1-0, 4.76 ERA) will start for Houston on Saturday and freshman right-hander Brad Sullivan (0-0, 3.00 ERA) will take the mound on Sunday.

Houston leads the all-time series with LSU, 17-7, including a three-game sweep of the Tigers last season in Baton Rouge. The Cougars rolled to 10-2, 11-7 and 10-2 victories in February, 2000.
