BATON ROUGE — Despite a season-high performance last weekend, the LSU gymnastics team fell one spot to the No. 13 in the nation in the latest GymInfo national rankings released on Monday, while Friday night’s opponent, Florida, also fell one place to No. 7.
UCLA continues to hold the top spot in the latest rankings. Five out of the six SEC programs continue to be ranked, as Alabama, Georgia, Florida and LSU are all ranked in the top 15, while Kentucky sits 23rd in this week’s poll.
The Tigers and Gators collide on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center in the annual Tiger Attack, a fan friendly evening filled with promotions and giveaways. The Tigers will look for similar results to last year’s Tiger Attack when they upset then-No. 1 Alabama.
Florida will be the third top 10 team the Tigers have already faced. LSU dropped decisions to No. 2 Alabama and fourth-ranked Georgia earlier this season. Following Friday night’s Tiger Attack, LSU will travel to No. 6 Nebraska next Friday.
The Tigers are coming off a season high 195.850 in their victory over Towson State, Texas Woman’s University and Centenary. LSU was 1-1 in match-ups with Florida a year ago, dropping a close decision in Gainesville before posting a convincing victory over the Gators at the SEC Championships where the Tigers finished tied for second with Georgia.
The meet will be televised on a tape-delayed basis by Fox Sports South marking LSU’s fourth television appearance in the last five weeks.
