BATON ROUGE — Mel Tucker has resigned as LSU’s defensive backs coach to take a similar position at Ohio State University, it was announced on Friday.
Tucker, who is a native of Cleveland, will coach defensive backs at Ohio State.
“Mel did a good job for us the one year that he was here,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “He’s a bright, young coach and I hate to see him leave. I wish him the best of luck.”
Tucker played college football at Wisconsin and before starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Michigan State in 1997. From there he went to Miami of Ohio where he coached defensive backs in 1999 before moving to LSU last year.
