BATON ROUGE — The 14th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team looks to increase its in-state winning streak to 71-matches on Wednesday, as the Tigers host the UL-Monroe Indians at 2 p.m. in the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.
LSU currently possesses a 70-match winning streak versus schools located in Louisiana and have not been beaten by an in-state rival since 1973. In that season, Tulane dropped the Tigers, 2-7, in the final dual match of the year.
The Tigers enter Saturday’s match undefeated with a 3-0 mark in dual play this season. The team has not relinquished a point this year and has accumulated three 7-0 wins over Southern, Centenary and Southeastern.
LSU has faced UL-Monroe only once in its 76-year existence. In 1978, the Tigers defeated the Indians, 8-1, on their way to a 20-3 overall record and the team’s first-ever sweet-16 appearance.
