BATON ROUGE — Following a 37-point win over Louisiana-Lafayette and three-point loss to Auburn, the LSU Lady Tigers fell to No. 12 and No. 14 in the ESPN/USA Today and Associated Press polls, respectively.
LSU had held been ranked No. 10 by the coaches and No. 11 by the media heading into the week.
Notre Dame, the nation’s only unbeaten Division I team, held on to the top spot in both polls while Tennessee took over Connecticut?s No. 2 ranking after the Lady Vols beat the Huskies on Thursday. UConn remained third.
Duke held at No. 4 with Purdue fifth in both polls. Past the top five, the polls began to differ. Florida jumped to sixth in the AP poll after beating Georgia, which fell two spots to seventh. Louisiana Tech is eighth with Iowa State and Oklahoma rounding out the top 10. In the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll, Georgia fell to sixth with Iowa State seventh and Louisiana Tech eighth. Florida moved up two spots to ninth and Texas Tech is 10th.
Vanderbilt is the fifth Southeastern Conference team in the polls as the Commodores are 18th in each poll.
