BATON ROUGE — The 2001 LSU baseball team, ranked No. 2 in the pre-season ESPN/Baseball Weekly poll, will face a squad of former Tigers at 1 p.m. Saturday in Alex Box Stadium.
Tickets for the exhibition contest are $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12. The LSU ticket office, located on the first floor of the LSU athletic administration building, is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m weekdays. Tickets will also be on sale Saturday at the Alex Box Stadium ticket office beginning at 11 a.m.

The alumni team is composed of former LSU players who are active in professional baseball. Among the major leaguers scheduled to play on the alumni team are infielder Todd Walker of the Colorado Rockies, infielders Russ Johnson and Andy Sheets of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, outfielder Lyle Mouton of the Florida Marlins, pitcher Eddie Yarnall of the Cincinnati Reds, pitcher Brett Laxton of the Kansas City Royals, pitcher Randy Keisler of the New York Yankees and infielder Jeff Reboulet of the Kansas City Royals.
The alumni team also features pitcher Kurt Ainsworth, a 2000 U.S. Olympic gold medalist, infielder Brandon Larson, the 1997 College World Series Most Outstanding Player, first baseman Eddy Furniss, the 1998 college baseball National Player of the Year, catcher Brad Cresse, who delivered the game-winning hit in the 2000 national championship game, and pitcher Trey Hodges, the 2000 CWS Most Outstanding Player.
Other former LSU stars scheduled to participate include pitchers Rick Greene, Heath McMurray, Barry Manuel, Chris Demouy, Doug Thompson, Dan Guillory, Brian Tallet and Patrick Coogan, first baseman Brad Hawpe, catcher Ryan Jorgensen, outfielder Harry Berrios and infielder Jason Williams.
Both the alumni squad and the 2001 LSU team will be available to sign autographs after the game.
The 2001 Tigers open their regular season Friday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. versus Kansas State in Alex Box Stadium.
