BATON ROUGE — Before it tries to Pack the PMAC on Sunday afternoon against Auburn, the 10th-ranked LSU women’s basketball team takes on in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
It will be Coca-Cola night at the arena as anyone bringing an empty coke can or bottle receives two-for-one admission to the game. Also the first 200 fans will get an LSU Lady Tigers license plate cover.
The game can be heard in Baton Rouge on WGTE 107.3-FM or on the internet at www.LSUsports.net.
LSU (14-5) enters the game riding a three-game win streak, including a 78-54 win over No. 23 Mississippi State on Sunday. Despite the streak, the Lady Tigers remained No. 10 in the latest Associated Press poll and No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll, both released on Monday.
LSU also has a chance to extend its school-record 53-game win streak over non-conference teams at home. The Lady Tigers have not dropped a non-conference game at the PMAC since a 1995 loss to Lamar. The streak is the longest in the Southeastern Conference.
UL-Lafayette (6-12) has dropped six straight, all in conference play. The Lady Cajuns have not won since a 73-66 victory over Texas-Pan American on Jan. 3.
Last season, the Lady Tigers scored an 82-39 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette. Overall, LSU has owned the Lady Cajuns as they have an 18-0 all-time record against them, including a 12-0 mark in Baton Rouge.
The Lady Tigers are expected to start Ke-Ke Tardy (9.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg), a 6-1 sophomore, and 5-11 senior April Brown (11.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg) at the forwards with 5-9 freshman Doneeka Hodges (7.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg), 5-11 senior Angelia Crockett (2.8 ppg, 3.6 apg) and Marie Ferdinand (20.8 ppg, 3.3 apg) at the guards.
