BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team, off its first conference win of the season on Wednesday night at Mississippi State, will be at home Saturday for a 4 p.m. game with the Arkansas Razorbacks at the Maravich Assembly Center.
The contest will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net. The game will be televised as part of the SEC-TV package on Fox Sports Net, Fox Sports Southwest in Louisiana and Channel 26 on Baton Rouge Cox Communications Cable.
Tickets are available for the game at $10 apiece at the Maravich Assembly Center box office two hours prior to the contest.
The 1981 NCAA Final Four team from LSU will be on hand for the game. The team will be introduced as a collective group during the pre-game and introduced individually during timeouts during the course of the game. A video tribute to the team will be shown at halftime.
The Tigers had a strong overall game to down Mississippi State, 82-73, this past Wednesday in Starkville. LSU out rebounded
Mississippi State, 35-27, and shot 54.9 percent from the field in the win. Collis Temple, with 16 second half points led LSU with a career high and team season high 27 points. Brian Beshara scored 17 first half points in a 24-point night as the Tigers hit 17-of-21 free throws, all in the second half.
Arkansas has had a week off since putting on a shooting clinic in the final five-minutes of an 87-58 win over Alabama on Jan. 20. The Razorbacks trailed, 87-58, but outscored Alabama, 58-26, in the second half to win going a way. Jannaro Pargo, who was the SEC Player of the Week, led Arkansas with 24 points, while Joe Johnson added 17, Charles Tatum 11 and Alonzo Lane 10.
LSU is 11-5, 1-4 in the SEC West, while Arkansas enters with an 11-6, 2-3 mark in the league.
LSU stays at home for its first game next week, hosting South Carolina in a 7 p.m. Wednesday game at the Assembly Center.
