BATON ROUGE — Individual game tickets for the 2001 LSU baseball season will go on sale at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the LSU athletic ticket office.
Due to an unprecedented renewal rate, LSU has already sold all of its 6,500 baseball season tickets. Individual-game tickets are all that remain available to the general public.
Individual game tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12. Tickets may be purchased in person on the first floor of the LSU athletic administration building, or they may be ordered by phone by calling (225) 578-2184 or 1-800-960-8587. Tickets may also be purchased on the Internet at www.lsusports.net.
Payments may be made with cash, check, VISA or MasterCard. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
LSU faces a challenging 2001 schedule, as the Tigers will play eight teams ranked in Collegiate Baseball magazine’s pre-season Top 40.
LSU, which began pre-season practice on Monday, enters the 2001 campaign ranked No. 3 in both the Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America polls.
The 56-game regular season schedule begins on Friday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. when LSU plays host to Kansas State in Alex Box Stadium.
The 32-game home slate features three-game series versus two ranked SEC opponents, No. 13 Florida (March 16-18) and No. 18 Auburn (May 11-13).
Along with the ranked opponents, LSU will play host to SEC foes Kentucky, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt, and the Tigers will entertain non-conference opponents Houston, Tulane, Duquesne, Southeastern Louisiana, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Southern, New Orleans, Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State.
LSU will also face five ranked opponents in three-game road series, as the Tigers will play at No. 6 Arizona State (March 2-4), at No. 10 South Carolina (April 6-8), at No. 16 Georgia (March 9-11), at No. 21 Mississippi State (March 23-25), and at No. 24 Alabama (April 27-29).
LSU will play four games at Zephyr Field in Metairie, as the Tigers will face Louisiana-Lafayette (April 10), Tulane (April 11), New Orleans (May 1) and the New Orleans Zephyrs on April 4 in an exhibition contest.
The Tigers’ non-conference road schedule also features games at Southern (March 13), Northwestern State (March 27) and Louisiana-Monroe (March 28).
