Ryan Clark’s Peach Bowl Diary, Day III
This morning, we got a change to get a little sleep. We received our phone call about 9:30 a.m. and went down to breakfast. Breakfast this morning was a frenzy because we received our Peach Bowl tickets, and it seemed like everyone was trying to round up their last-minute tickets. I left very excited because most of my family members who wanted to come see me and the Tigers play received tickets.
Practice went well, as we prepared to make fine adjustments to our game plan against Georgia Tech. After practice, some of us were designated to meet with the media on the turf at the Georgia Dome. We answered these questions with confidence and “smarts” — meaning, no fear but not stupid.
After practice, we moved into team meetings where we watched about one quarter of game film as a unit. We established calls, check and other real-time corrections that fans see us gesturing during the course of the game.
Once everyone understood their assignments for the game, we had time to chill before attending the Delta Air Lines Players Awards Banquet held at our hotel. The main theme of this “chill time” was SLEEP. When it came time for the banquet, we had reached one of the most anticipated events of the trip.
The banquet was very nice, as was the highlight video that was shown for both teams. If I may say so myself, our video staff at LSU did one heck of a job on ours. Anyway, the President of Georgia Tech along with Chancellor Emmert met on stage to exchange gag gifts. Then, the show was highlighted by an improv comedy show in which Robert Royal, coach (Rick) Trickett and I stole the show.
After the show, some of us went out on the town, while others headed to bed.
Hope to see all of you in Atlanta really soon.
