Peach Bowl Draws Record Sales of More Than 10,000

BATON ROUGE — Tiger fans lined up at sunrise on the chilly morning of Tuesday, Dec. 5, to begin purchasing tickets for the Tigers’ matchup with 15th-ranked Georgia Tech in the 2000 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 29, 2000. Season ticket holders had the first shot to purchase these tickets in person, online, and over the telephone (800-960-8587) or fax machine. At closing time, at least 10,184 Peach Bowl tickets were sold to LSU fans, according to ticket manager Brian Broussard.

The 10,000 tickets marked the largest single-day sell in LSU athletic department history. Tuesday was the first day in which tickets for the Peach Bowl were available in Baton Rouge. The largest block of tickets sold on the first day went to the Shaw Group, who purchased 1,600 tickets for its employees.

“It has to be the largest single day sell we’ve ever had here,” Broussard said. “It can’t ever remember a day in the ticket office like we had today.”

Broussard said that of the 10,000 tickets sold, 1,177 came on the internet through LSU’s website,? www.LSUsports.net.
