BATON ROUGE — The LSU football team still has a bowl game left to play but the Tigers were honored for their accomplishments during the regular-season with the annual banquet on Friday night at the LSU Union.
Highlighting the list of honors for the Tigers was sophomore wide receiver Josh Reed, who won the Charles McClendon Most Valuable Player Award as well as the Percy E. Roberts Outstanding Offensive Player Award. Reed led the Southeastern Conference with 1,127 yard receiving, a figure that ranks second in school history.
Sophomore linebacker Trev Faulk, who ranks second in the SEC with 113 total tackles, was recipient of the Percy E. Roberts Outstanding Defensive Player Award.
The National L-Club Captain’s Awards went to Faulk along with senior center Louis Williams and junior quarterback Rohan Davey. Davey also won the Most Inspirational Award.
Williams was also the recipient of the Charles Coates-Student Athlete Award as well as the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Offensive Linemen. Rodney Reed, a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a first team Freshman All-America selection by The Sporting News, was named the Academic Tiger of? the Year with a 3.8 grade point average in business administration. Senior fullback Tommy Banks joined Williams in receiving the Charles Coates Student-Athlete Award.
The Alvin Roy Award for Strength and Conditioning went to junior tight end Robert Royal on offense and junior defensive end Jarvis Green. Royal also won the Butch Duhe Award.
Other award winners at the banquet included linebacker Walter Moreham (Unsung Hero Award), defensive end Kenderick Allen (Outstanding Underclassmen Lineman Award), tailback LaBrandon Toefield (Outstanding Underclassmen Back Award), linebacker Bradie James (Outstanding Underclassmen Back Award), offensive tackle Brandon Winey (Up-Front Award), and tailback Domanick Davis (Special Teams Player of the Year).
Among those winning the Chancellor’s Award for Perseverance were defensive tackle Muskingum Barnes, quarterback Josh Booty and free safety Ryan Clark.
