HOUSTON — The LSU volleyball team ended its season on Saturday with a 15-7, 15-4, 15-13 loss at the hands of the Houston Cougars in the Houston Tournament consolation game.
With the loss the Tigers finish the season 15-17 overall. That mark includes a 6-9 Southeastern Conference mark. Houston, which is hopeful for an NCAA Tournament bid, improved to 21-10 on the year.
LSU was its own worst enemy on offense as the Tigers could muster just a .045 attack percentage in the match while three starters had more attack errors than kills.
Junior Meagan Davis and senior Jill Lytle were the only LSU hitters that were able to put balls away for the Tiger offense. Davis had 10 kills and a .320 attack percentage to lead the team.
Lytle, playing in her last collegiate match, finished with nine kills en route to a .188 attack percentage.
Jennifer Wittenburg and Bobbi Steward led the way for Houston with 18 and 13 kills, respectively. Wittenburg added 10 digs to record a double-double.
