LSU (6-3, 4-2 SEC) has won three consecutive SEC games, all at home, and has not won a league game on the road since beating Auburn in 1998. Ole Miss (6-2, 4-2 SEC) is tied with the Tigers for first place in the tight SEC West race with three games remaining.
The Rebels have won three straight in the series dating back to 1997 and have back-to-back games against UNLV and Arkansas entering this game. In its six wins this season, Ole Miss’ opponents’ combined record is 12-33. The combined record of Auburn and Alabama, Ole Miss’ two loses, is 10-8.
Ole Miss has the nation’s 81st toughest schedule, while LSU enters this game with the 15th-ranked schedule.
Neither team is ranked in this nationally-televised contest on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. CST.
LSU became bowl eligible with an exciting 30-28 victory over rival Alabama last week in Baton Rouge. Should the Tigers defeat Ole Miss and Arkansas on the road, the Tigers would need Auburn to lose to either Georgia or Alabama in order to advance to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta on Dec. 2.
