BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s golf team received its first signee of the season as Heath West inked with the Tigers, head coach Greg Jones announced on Thursday.
West, a native of Dothan, Ala., is ranked No. 20 in the nation in the GolfWeek/Saragin Junior Golf Rankings. West attends Dothan High School, where he finished second at the Robert Trent Jones Trail Golf Classic. He was also the medalist at the Justin Leonard Classic on the American Junior Golf Association circuit in Dallas, Texas this past summer.
“He’s an explosive player with great touch, and he is a great kid that will provide us with a solid base for the future,” said LSU head coach Greg Jones.
The men’s golf team completed their most succesful fall season in recent years with a victory at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate last month, and will not play again until February.
