Williams, Banks, Faulk Named Academic All-District

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Louis Williams, Tommy Banks and Trev Faulk have all earned a spot on this year’s Verizon All-Academic District VI Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.

Williams, Banks and Faulk were all first team selections and they are joined on the first team by other Louisiana athletes in Marcus Trahan (running back, McNeese State), Joseph Johnson (defensive line, Northwestern State), Ben Duhon (linebacker, McNeese State), and Hadley Prince (defensive back, McNeese State).

Williams, a senior center from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., has a 3.785 grade point average in Pre-Medicine. Williams has started 31 straight games at four different positions on the offensive line for the Tigers.

Banks, a senior fullback from West Monroe, La., has a 3.427 grade point average in Microbiology. This year, Banks has rushed for 33 yards on 13 carries and he’s caught three passes for 47 yards, including a 17-yard reception against Florida.

Faulk, a sophomore linebacker from Lafayette, leads the Southeastern Conference in tackles with 96. He has eight tackles for losses and he’s also recorded a pair of sacks. Faulk has recovered four fumbles this year which have led to 17 points for the Tigers. Faulk has a 3.2 grade point average in Business Administration.

District VI is comprised of universities in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Athletes named to the District VI first team will represent the district on the national ballot.
