BATON ROUGE — The LSU football team continued its preparations for Ole Miss with a two hour practice in the rain on Wednesday at the LSU practice facility.
“For the most part practice was okay,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “We really want the players to take ownership for what we can accomplish and how important it is to them. They need to take responsibility and affect each other in positive ways so they have the best chance to be successful.”
LSU (6-3, 4-2 SEC) goes into Saturday’s contest against Ole Miss riding a 10-game road losing streak. LSU hasn’t won on the road since a 31-19 win over Auburn in the second week of the 1998 season.
“Obviously there is a lot for us to prove,” Saban said. “We haven’t won a game on the road for quite a while and that is something we need to do. We have a lot to play for. Mississippi is a good football team with a lot of good football players and they play hard and are well-coached. So, it is not going to be easy.”
Kickoff for Saturday’s contest is at 8 p.m. and the game will be televised to a national audience on ESPN2.
