COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Both of LSU’s women’s tennis doubles teams came up short on Sunday in the round of 16 at the ITA Regional Championships.
The Lady Tiger doubles team comprised of sophomore Lauren Haddix and senior Fernanda Tsucamoto fell to Texas’ 15th-ranked tandem of Rebecca Forney and Kaysie Smashey, 8-1. Forney and Smashey advanced to the quarterfinal round where they will face Ashley Hedberg and Jessica Roland of Texas A&M. Hedberg/Roland is the second-seeded pair in the tournament.
In the other half of the doubles competition, LSU’s duo of Kelly Craycraft and Tami Botts were defeated by the top-seeded Vladka Uhlirova and Janet Walker of Texas, 8-3.
Play will resume on Monday at the ITA Regional Championships in College Station, Texas, on the campus of Texas A&M University.
