Brady Issues Statement on Torris Bright

BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball coach John Brady issued the following statement Saturday afternoon regarding sophomore point guard Torris Bright:

Torris Bright will not play in our exhibition game on Monday because of a failure on his part to meet his obligations and responsibilities to the team that had previously been discussed with him. We will continue to monitor his progress in these areas to help him make the right decisions. Torris had an outstanding freshman year and is an important part of our chance for success, not only for this season, but future ones as well. At the same time, we cannot compromise our beliefs on what we feel is right. I am confident Torris will accept what is in front of him and respond in the appropriate way.”

The Tigers will play the back half of a double header Monday at 7 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center against the Global Sports All-Stars, an AAU team made up of former college and CBA players. Tickets are on sale at the athletic ticket office for $10. The LSU women will play a Russian club team in the first half of the event beginning at 4:15 p.m. Monday.

The LSU men’s basketball team will also host a “Select-A-Seat” night on Thursday (Nov. 9) from 6-8 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center. Fans can choose their season tickets for the 2000-2001 basketball season. There will be free Cokes and hot dogs for the fans, the Tiger team will have a brief work out and be available to meet the fans and sign autographs.
