BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Brad Bridgewater tore the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in practice on Tuesday and will miss the entire season, LSU coach John Brady said on Wednesday.
Bridgewater, a 6-foot-8 junior from New Roads, La., was expected to be the Tigers’ starting center this year. With the departure of both Stromile Swift and Jabari Smith to the NBA, Bridgewater was the tallest player on the Tiger squad this year.
Last year, Bridgewater played in 26 games for the Tigers and he averaged 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds. Bridgewater scored a season-high eight points in LSU’s 61-57 win over Georgia in January and he came off the bench to score six points in helping the Tigers to a 72-67 second round NCAA Tournament win over Texas.
Bridgewater is expected to have surgery to repair the knee within the next week.
